Christopher Jordano

CANAAN — Christopher Jordano, 40, of Canaan, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sept. 23, 2023.  He was born on Mar. 3, 1983, at Sharon Hospital.  Chris was a longtime resident of Canaan.

He graduated from Housatonic Valley Regional High School in 2001 and went on to operate a lawn business, and most recently ran his own tree business.  Chris enjoyed working on his machines and vehicles, his pets, especially his large dogs and ferrets. He also enjoyed fishing and snowboarding and working out at the gym.  Chris was a very intelligent man, with endless potential.  He taught himself to climb trees, take down trees, and run all of the equipment.  He did beautiful work.  

Chris was very ambitious and had a selfless big heart.  He eagerly helped everyone; including strangers, always putting others first.  He was a very handsome, brilliant man with a good sense of humor.  Chris will be deeply missed by his loyal family and friends. 

He is survived by his dedicated mother, Elaine Patton, his aunt, Diane Patton Duntz, his two cousins Jennifer Majette and her two sons Cameron and Braydon Majette, and Edward Duntz.  Chris was predeceased by his maternal grandparents Viola and Edward Patton.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday Oct. 14, 2023, at the Newkirk-Palmer Funeral Home,  118 Main St. North Canaan, CT 06018 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

WATERBURY — Gilbert/Northwestern/Housatonic football lost 20-17 in a heartbreaker to John F. Kennedy High School Thursday, Sept. 19.

JFK scored all of its points in the second half and came back from a 17-6 margin in the fourth quarter. QB Jayden Lopez connected with TE Damian Elliot for a 45-yard touchdown pass with 2:29 remaining in the game to take the lead.

HVRHS draws 1-1 in Torrington

TORRINGTON — Housatonic Valley Regional High School boys varsity soccer tied with Torrington High School after a thrilling showdown Wednesday, Sept. 18.

Defensive dominance from both teams kept the game scoreless for the first 72 minutes of play. A penalty kick put Torrington up 1-0 with eight minutes left. HVRHS responded rapidly when striker Brayan Lopez-Gonzalez threaded a shot between two Raider defenders and the goalie for a game-tying goal with two minutes remaining.

Tucked into the woods at the southeastern edge of Sharon for many years was an abandoned property, the former site of a beloved garden center called Nora’s.

Ivy and Daniel Kramp often drove by the old Nora’s, after moving part-time to Sharon in 2015 (both are successful realtors in New York City). It ignited a dream for Ivy, who had always loved interior design.
