COLEBROOK — The Colebrook General Store, located at 559 Colebrook Road, will hold open mic nights every two weeks throughout the summer, and possibly into the fall and winter seasons.
Store owner Jodi Marinelli said the event will be held every other Friday from 6 to 9 p.m.
“I thought it would be fun for the locals to do together and have a reason to come in and hang out,” Marinelli said. “Whoever comes in to play can play. We’ve gotten some good players in here. I just think it’s fun for the community to do and make the town alive.”
The open mic series started on June 26 and is organized by local band Chronic Rhythm.
“Jodi came up with the idea,” band member Sam Guglielmino said. “We figured it’s close in town so it’s a good thing. I think more people will show up when it’s more established. We’ll have more during the fall and winter.”
Forty residents attended the Friday, July 10, open mic night, which included performances by Chronic Rhythm, Beverly Rosenberg, Rob Desmond and Frank Guglielmino.
The next open mic night will be held at the Town Green on Friday, July 24, at 6 p.m.
