Party at The Pines for March of Dimes

DOVER — My Little Angels Daycare & Preschool is hosting a Dance for March of Dimes on Saturday, Oct. 6, at The Pines Restaurant in Wassaic.The event comes on the heels of the rained-out Family Day Block Party Ride for Babies, in which the organization was able to raise $280 for March of Dimes despite the cancellation.“We were really let down that the other event was canceled. We usually don’t do fundraisers back to back, but this one came up so organically and we couldn’t pass up the chance to raise money for such a great charity,” said event co-captain Denise Clair.For $20 a person or $25 per couple, attendees will be able to enjoy an all-you-can-eat hors d’oeuvres buffet, music by DJ B-Rock and raffle prizes.“Our deejay is so great. His name is ‘Brock Race’ and he’s donated four hours of his time so everyone can have a great time. He’ll be playing a lot of fun music. I didn’t want the typical slow, fast, slow, fast mix. We want people up and dancing and being silly and just having a great time,” said Clair.The raffle will give patrons a chance to win a bevy of gifts donated by local businesses including Gilmor Glass, Salsa Fresca, 52 Main, Four Brothers in Dover, Berkshire Wine & Liquor and many others.“We have already received over $1,200 in donated prizes,” said Clair.Clair also took to Facebook to collect a truly unique prize for attendees.“I contacted Larry the Cable Guy and told him about our area and our event. A lot of people around here really enjoy his comedy. He actually wrote back and put me in touch with another representative of his. Two weeks later we got a package in the mail with a signed Larry the Cable Guy signature hat. It’s the same camouflage hat that he wears with the fishing hook in the brim. He thought enough of us to send that along for the raffle and we’re really excited about it,” she said.Tickets can be purchased by contacting Clair at 845-877-3902.“We’d also like to stress that you don’t have to have a ticket to join in the fun. The Pines Restaurant will remain open to the general public, so if you don’t want to participate in the buffet, come in, order off the menu, have a drink and dance the night away with us! We’re welcoming everyone to come have fun and participate in the raffle and help us raise money for a great cause,” she said.
