Robert C. Carlson


THOMASTON — Robert C. Carlson Sr., 64, of Pine Hill Road, died Dec. 7, 2006.

Born Jan. 23, 1942, in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, he was the son of Olive (Vincent) Carlson and the late Robert E. Carlson.

After graduating from Torrington High School, he served in the United States Air Force. He was employed as a tool designer at the Torrington Co., a manufacturing engineer at Lacey Manufacturing Co. in Bridgeport, and spent his last seven years as a process engineer for the Siemon Co. in Watertown.

Mr. Carlson was an inspiration to his son and others who knew him as a kind-hearted, generous and caring man. He enjoyed the latest consumer electronics, cars, cooking and spending time with his beloved family.

He is survived by one son, Robert C. Carlson Jr. and daughter-in-law, Lottie Beth, of New Hartford; one sister, Diane Carlson of Whitehall, Pa.; two grandchildren, Robert S. Carlson and Olivia Carlson; a niece, Barbara Davis; and nephews Rob and Will Moreschi.

Funeral services will be today, Dec. 15, at 11 a.m. at the First Congregational Church in Torrington. Burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family. The LaPorta-Cook Funeral Home, Torrington, has charge of arrangements.

WASHINGTON — Housatonic Valley Regional High School’s boys varsity soccer team advanced to the Berkshire League tournament final after a 1-0 win over Shepaug Valley High School in the semifinal game on Friday, Oct. 24.

Jackson McAvoy scored the game-winning goal with just two minutes remaining.

School spirit on the rise at Housy

As homecoming week reaches its end and fall sports finish out the season, an air of school spirit and student participation seems to be on the rise across Housatonic Valley Regional High School.

But what can be attributed to this sudden peak of student interest? That’s largely due to SGA. Also known as the Student Government Association, SGA has dedicated itself to creating events to bring the entire student body together. This year, they decided to change some traditions.
