Sarah M. Jones

SALISBURY ­— Sarah M. Jones, 89, of 17 Cobble Road, died at Sharon Hospital on Saturday, Aug. 18. She was the widow of Harold Wright Jones.

Mrs. Jones was born Nov. 2, 1917, in Yarmouth, Maine, the daughter of the late Emeline (Simonton) and Maurice Merrill. She moved to Connecticut during her childhood and lived in Taconic.

She worked for Salisbury School and later, for many years, at the Canaan National Bank. She was an active volunteer in Salisbury for many years and was a member of the Salisbury Congregational Church.

Mrs. Jones is survived by a son, Harold Jones of Salisbury; two daughters, Eileen Schneider of Conway, Mass., and Ann Bryan of Bend, Ore.; two sisters, Frances Libby of East Lyme, Conn., and Alice Marcou of Opalocka, Fla.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Calling hours were held on Aug. 21 at Kenny Funeral Home in Sharon. A graveside service was celebrated on Aug. 22 at Salisbury Cemetery.

SHARON — Sharon Dennis Rosen, 83, died on Aug. 8, 2025, in New York City.

Born and raised in Sharon, Connecticut, she grew up on her parents’ farm and attended Sharon Center School and Housatonic Valley Regional High School. She went on to study at Skidmore College before moving to New York City, where she married Dr. Harvey Rosen and together they raised two children.

There is a scene in “The King of In Between,” a documentary about musician Garland Jeffreys, that shows his name as the answer to a question on the TV show “Jeopardy!”

“This moment was the film in a nutshell,” said Claire Jeffreys, the film’s producer and director, and Garland’s wife of 40 years. “Nobody knows the answer,” she continued. “So, you’re cool enough to be a Jeopardy question, but you’re still obscure enough that not one of the contestants even had a glimmer of the answer.”
