There were nine full tables for duplicate bridge at Good Neighbors on Wednesday, June 17. One additional pair was “on their way, but one player was late so they were not admitted. They were very gracious about our refusal. We are adhering to the rule that players must be in their chairs by 12:50 p.m., shuffling.
With nine full tables, we played three boards a round, 27 boards in total, making it a long day. The average score was 108, each way.
The winners were: For North South pairs, in first with 143.5 points (66.44 percent, a VERY high score) were Norma Bartholomew and George Mason; in second with 122.5 points (56.71percent) were Jim Stearns and John Neufeld, and in third with 114.5 points (53.01 percent) were Paul Rooney and Harry Hall.
For East West pairs, in first with 137.5 points (63.66percent) were Susan Lambrecht and Ken Clark; in second with 136 points (63.19 percent) were Emily Soell and Jim Palmer, and in third with 124 points (57.41percent) were Emily and Billy Saster.
I announced to the players that June 18 was Roger Festa’s 97th birthday.
