Sharon photos online and at Town Hall

SHARON —Winners were recently announced for the Spirit of Sharon photo contest sponsored by the Sharon Website Committee with support of the Sharon Woman’s Club. The contest was open to all Sharon residents. Fifty photos were entered in the competition; the judges were Jenny Hansell, Brian Wilcox and Jonathan Doster. Twenty of the submissions are currently on display at the Town Hall in front of the selectmen’s office. Voting for the People’s Choice winner will be available online at www.sharonct.org.First place in the children’s category was “Too Quiet” by Livia Fallon, fourth grade. Second place went to “Cannon Memorial” by LeShawna Togninalli, eighth grade.In the animal category, first place went to “Horses in Snow” by James Gillespie and second place went to “Trespassing” by Ember Parker Palmer, 11th grade.In the architecture category, first place went to “Sharon Church 1990” by Barbara Bartram and second place went to “Apsley Farm” by Ember Parker Palmer.In the landscape category, first place went to Rick Hotaling for “The Setting Sun” and second place went to Dennis Fallon for “Stormy Day.”

Housy boys defeat Shepaug 1-0 in BL tournament semifinal

WASHINGTON — Housatonic Valley Regional High School’s boys varsity soccer team advanced to the Berkshire League tournament final after a 1-0 win over Shepaug Valley High School in the semifinal game on Friday, Oct. 24.

Jackson McAvoy scored the game-winning goal with just two minutes remaining.

School spirit on the rise at Housy

As homecoming week reaches its end and fall sports finish out the season, an air of school spirit and student participation seems to be on the rise across Housatonic Valley Regional High School.

But what can be attributed to this sudden peak of student interest? That’s largely due to SGA. Also known as the Student Government Association, SGA has dedicated itself to creating events to bring the entire student body together. This year, they decided to change some traditions.
