The following information was provided by the Connecticut State Police at Troop B. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. 

Pickup hits pole

Reginald Fish, 71, of Colebrook was driving north on Colebrook Road in Colebrook June 9. At about 9:32 a.m., about .1 miles south of Stillman Hill Road, he lost control. The 2003 Chevrolet S10 hit a utility pole off the right shoulder. Fish was not injured. The truck was towed with front-end damage. Fish was given a written warning for failure to maintain the proper lane.

Breach of peace

David Mills, 70, of East Granby, Conn., was arrested June 11 following an incident reported at 6:55 p.m. on South Road in Barkhamsted. The complainant was Brendan McGrath, 39, of that address. Mills was charged with breach of peace. Bond was set at $500. He is to appear in Bantam Superior Court June 29. 

Warrant arrest

Danielle O’Brien, 30, of Winsted was arrested June 10 after two warrants were found during a 7:28 p.m. motor vehicle stop on North Bantam Road in Litchfield. O’Brien was charged with failure to appear. She was held at Troop L in Litchfield on a $1,000 bond. She was to appear in Bantam Superior Court June 11.

Car down embankment

Brittany Lewis, 28, of Canton, Conn., was driving north on West River Road in Barkhamsted June 11. At about 4:36 p.m., her 2000 VW Jetta crossed into the southbound lane. It went off the road and down an embankment. It collided with several trees. Lewis was not injured. The car was towed with left-side damage. Lewis was charged with failure to maintain the proper lane.

Housy boys defeat Shepaug 1-0 in BL tournament semifinal

WASHINGTON — Housatonic Valley Regional High School’s boys varsity soccer team advanced to the Berkshire League tournament final after a 1-0 win over Shepaug Valley High School in the semifinal game on Friday, Oct. 24.

Jackson McAvoy scored the game-winning goal with just two minutes remaining.

School spirit on the rise at Housy

Students dressed in neon lined the soccer field for senior night under the lights on Thursday, Oct. 16. The game against Lakeview was the last in a series of competitions Thursday night in celebration of Homecoming 2025.

As homecoming week reaches its end and fall sports finish out the season, an air of school spirit and student participation seems to be on the rise across Housatonic Valley Regional High School.

But what can be attributed to this sudden peak of student interest? That’s largely due to SGA. Also known as the Student Government Association, SGA has dedicated itself to creating events to bring the entire student body together. This year, they decided to change some traditions.
