MILLBROOK — The Tuesday, March 12, meeting of the Village Board began with the approval of vouchers, as is the board’s practice.
Next was a report from the Building Department.
Bob Collocola, public works superintendent, showed photos of the new dump truck the village purchased. No longer green, this truck is white and stainless steel. A Ford, Collacola expects this truck to outlast the older models by several years.
Collacola also reported that the Highway Department had five snow and ice incidents between Feb. 26 and March 12. There was a total snowfall of 12 inches. Due to high winds, limbs and trees had to be picked up; swept dirt and gravel washed down into streets due to snow melting. The village garage installed two pairs of rear spotlights on the 2011 and 2015 dump trucks. The crew also filled numerous potholes. For the winter season, a total of 48 inches of snow and ice fell, causing 18 snow/ice incidents.
Mayor Rodney Brown announced that meetings with department heads are now taking place for the budget. He also announced that as far as the village knows, plans for a laundromat are ongoing. He is also looking into making a handicapped parking space in front of Village Hall. In terms of village repairs, the overhead lights at Village Hall were repaired, as well as two downed street lights.
The board approved a permit for a 5K run in June.
