WINSTED — The Winsted Fire Department held its third annual Breakfast With the Easter Bunny event at the Prospect Street fire house on Sunday, March 30.
The event was a fundraiser for the department, which uses the money raised for a scholarship fund for members and for equipment.
At the event, children had their picture taken with the Easter Bunny, this year portrayed by department member Nick Burns.
“This event is good for the parents and good for the kids,” Burns said. “We also hold an event with Santa Claus during the Christmas season. I think we had a great turnout this year, and at least it’s not snowing.”
At the event, children and their parents were served a breakfast meal consisting of pancakes, eggs and bacon by department members.
Member David Young attended the event with his son, 2-year-old Spencer.
“I’ve been a member for 18 years and these fundraisers are important for the department,” Young said. “From responding to motor vehicle accidents, to responding to fire and medical emergencies, we do it all.”
According to organizers, the event raised $300 for the department.
