Case said the budget is still a working document and the state legislature has a lot of work to do before a revised proposal is offered, but there is information on the governor’s proposal that he can share.“These are town meetings. Basically they are informational meetings. We’re working on the budget, and we don’t know what’s going to come out of it yet, but we’re all in the process of holding public hearings and weighing information,” Case said.Following his Torrington appearance, Case will appear with State Sen. Kevin Witkos (R-17) on Wednesday, March 20, at 7 p.m. at Colebrook Town Hall with local and elected officials to review their concerns. The following day, Thursday, March 21, at noon, Case will have lunch with Colebrook seniors at the Colebrook Senior and Community Center. Finally, Case will hold an informational hearing in his hometown of Winsted in The Gilbert School’s auditorium on Tuesday, April 2, at 6:30 p.m., in which he’ll again discuss the state budget and the work he has been doing for constituents.“I’m going to try to visit each town in the district at least three times per year,” Case said of the 63rd District, which includes Winchester, Colebrook and parts of Torrington and Goshen. “Our job doesn’t stop after budget season and I want to keep up with constituents. Right now I know people have questions on the budget and I want them to know what we’re doing. Everybody’s working on it.”For updates on Case’s work in the district, visit www.cthousegop.com/jay-case.

May Castleberry’s next chapter

Castleberry’s idea of happiness is “looking at a great painting.”

May Castleberry is a ball of sunshine and passion, though she grew up an introverted child, moving with her family from Alberta to Colorado to Texas, finding comfort in mountains, books and wide-open skies. Today, the former art book editor and museum curator has found a new home in Lakeville, where the natural beauty of the Northwest Corner continues to captivate her. Whether walking with friends, painting, reading or visiting beloved local libraries in Salisbury, Norfolk and Cornwall, Castleberry has embraced the region since making her move permanent in 2022, bringing with her a remarkable career shaped by a lifelong love of books and art.

Castleberry grew up in the world of books, and especially art books, and she credits her artist mother, an avid art book collector, with igniting her passions. Castleberry’s high school art teacher in Dallas understood how to teach students to channel their imaginations into books and art.
