Connecticut State Police Troop B - 7-5-12

The following information was provided by the Connecticut State Police at Troop B. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Pool pump stolenState police are investigating a report of the theft of a pool pump. A complaint was filed June 19 by Beebe Hill Road resident Hazel McGuire. iPads missingSharon Center School reported June 25 that three recently purchased iPads are missing from the school. The incident is under investigation. Anyone with information should call Troop B at 860-824-2500.Driver asleep at the wheelJohn Briscoe, 75, of Salisbury was driving south on Brinton Hill Road in Salisbury June 25. At about 3:18 p.m., he fell asleep. His 2009 Subaru Outback went off the right side of the road into bushes. Briscoe was not injured. No enforcement was noted.Pool equipment stolenThe theft of pool equipment from a Falls Village home was reported June 28 by Battle Hill resident Melissa Steines. An ionizer was taken apart and copper removed from the inside. This is the second such incident in Falls Village. State Police urge residents to be vigilant and report any suspicious people or vehicles. Anyone with information on the theft should call Troop B at 860-824-2500.Drug and vehicle chargesLucas Jordan, 24, of Salisbury turned himself in at Troop B on a warrant June 29. He was charged with possession of narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia, traveling too fast for conditions, having an improper marker plate, failure to maintain the proper lane and operating a motor vehicle while his license was under suspension.Car hits treeLaura Guidolin, 23, of North Canaan was driving north on Route 7 in Falls Village June 29. At about 4 a.m., for an unknown reason, she lost control. The 2003 VW Passat went off the right shoulder. It hit a tree. Guidolin was taken to Sharon Hospital with minor lacerations to her face and right ankle. The accident is under investigation.Car door damagedAn unknown driver and vehicle hit the driver’s door of a 2007 Dodge Caliber parked at the Town Grove in Salisbury June 29. Vehicle owner Debby Schutt of Salisbury reported the incident at about 6:03 p.m. Anyone with information should call Trooper Barone at 860-824-2500.The Lakeville Journal will publish the outcome of police charges. Indigo girls: a collaboration in process and pigment

In Amenia this fall, three artists came together to experiment with an ancient process — extracting blue pigment from freshly harvested Japanese indigo. What began as a simple offer from a Massachusetts farmer to share her surplus crop became a collaborative exploration of chemistry, ecology and the art of making by hand.

“Collaboration is part of our DNA as people who work with textiles,” said Amenia-based artist Christy Gast as she welcomed me into her vast studio. “The whole history of every part of textile production has to do with cooperation and collaboration,” she continued.
