These results are unofficial until certified by the Dutchess County Board of Elections.At the county level, Marcus Molinaro was elected as the county executive over Daniel French. Molinaro received 31,822 votes, roughly 61.6 percent of the overall vote. French received 19,816 votes.Gary Cooper was elected as a member of the Dutchess County Legislature in District 19. With 1,397 votes (54.7 percent), he beat Melvyn Eiger, who received 1,152 votes.Bradford Kendall received 36,891 votes in an uncontested race for county clerk.Adrian “Butch” Anderson was re-elected as the county sheriff with 38,128 votes. Anderson was unopposed.
Passing the torch in town governmentHARLEM VALLEY — The Nov. 8 elections may be done with, but for those who won the many races throughout the Harlem Valley they won’t be able to take office until after the new year.Newly elected officials get sworn into office during organizational meetings in New York, held after the first of the year. Municipalities decide when they will hold those organizational meetings, typically setting the date at their monthly meetings in December. Town and village boards usually aim to set those meetings as close to Jan. 1 as possible, and announce the “reorg meeting” date through legal notices in their local papers.
