Elle magazine features Millbrook

MILLBROOK — The March 2010 issue of Elle magazine, with actress Keira Knightley on the cover, contains a feature article — and photos — about the village of Millbrook, written by weekender Mario Grauso.

In just one page the article covers riding, shopping, eating, sleeping, shooting, nature and buying real estate in Millbrook. Those who take five minutes to read the story carefully will be surprised to learn that Millbrook is now only one hour north of New York City and that Richard Gere’s Bedford Post Inn in Bedford is only 30 minutes from Millbrook. But the 15 small photographs provide a great sense of Millbrook and its environs from Bowen Barn to the Grauso family eating at the Millbrook Diner.

Don Bergeron, owner of Red School House Antiques at 3300 Franklin Ave., said the article has produced new visitors to his antiques store.

Just down the street at Babette’s, the article was laying on the center table.

Selina van der Geest in Bangall already has included the issue on her Web site (nlgb.com) and commented that many people had called and come in because of the national coverage.

Not everyone could take advantage of the attention. The Bowen Barn in Stanfordville is closed until April, and its owner, Jody Robertson, responding to our phone inquiry, said, “Thanks for telling me about it.  You’re the first person who has called.â€
