Jean M. Thompson

MILLERTON — Jean M. Thompson, 84, of Canaan, N.Y., entered into rest on Sept. 24, 2012, at the Whittier Rehab and Skilled Nursing Center in Ghent, N.Y. She was born on Feb. 8, 1928, in Sharon, the daughter of the late Nettie Wood and Peter Hansen. She married John H. Thompson on Dec. 31, 1947, in Wassaic. He survives at home.In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Candace Morrison and her husband, William, of Millerton, John E. Thompson and his wife, Sandra, of New Lebanon, N.Y., and Peter A. Thompson and his wife, Sharon, of Canaan; her sister, Dorothy Zimmerman of Georgia; seven grandchildren, Moriah and Melissa Morrison, Ashley, Colin, Landen, and John Thompson and Melanie Andrews and her husband, Casey; several nieces and nephews; and her dog, Calvin.She was predeceased by her brothers, Floyd and Kenneth Hansen; and sisters, Mae Ondek, Skeet Berlingherie and Jen Sacalise.Graveside services and burial took place Sept. 28 at Flanders Cemetery in Kent.Memorial contributions may be made to the Dutchess County SPCA, 636 Violet Ave., Hyde Park, NY 12538; or the Alzheimer’s Association,2 Jefferson Plaza, Suite 103, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601-4060. Following the memorable benefit reading last season of Charles Busch’s Tony-nominated Broadway hit, “The Tale of the Allergist’s Wife,” the Sharon Playhouse will present a one-night-only staged reading of his riotous comic melodrama “Die Mommie Die!” on Friday, Sept. 12 at 7 p.m.

The production —a deliciously over-the-top homage to classic Hollywood mid-century thrillers — ­­continues the Playhouse’s artistic partnership with Busch, who reprises his iconic role of the glamorous yet troubled songstress Angela Arden.
