John H. Dietter

MILLERTON — John H. Dietter, 82, of Millerton died Oct. 5, 2012, at Noble Horizons.He was born on May 21, 1930, in Ancramdale, a son of Anna B. (Lown) and Ernest T. Dietter. Mr. Dietter had been a machine operator with the former K & E Manufacturing in Millerton.He often performed as a clown for the benefit of the Shriners Hospitals for Children and other organizations.Survivors include his children, Brenda Maillet and Gregg Dietter, both of Millerton, Martin Dietter of Massachusetts and Barry Dietter of Georgia; his grandchildren, Frank Maillet, Denise Manfro, Paula Maillet, Brian Dietter, Richard Dietter and Lauren Dietter; five siblings, Barbara Hurn of Ancramdale, Olive Shook of Stanfordville, Janet Bartle of Winsted, Avery Dietter of Ancramdale and Elwood Dietter of Millerton; and several nieces and nephews.He was predeceased by 10 of his 15 siblings.At Mr. Dietter’s request, services and interment will be held at the convenience of the family.Arrangements are with the Peck and Peck Funeral Home in Copake.To send an online condolence, go to www.peckandpeck.net.

SHARON — Sharon Dennis Rosen, 83, died on Aug. 8, 2025, in New York City.

Born and raised in Sharon, Connecticut, she grew up on her parents’ farm and attended Sharon Center School and Housatonic Valley Regional High School. She went on to study at Skidmore College before moving to New York City, where she married Dr. Harvey Rosen and together they raised two children.

There is a scene in “The King of In Between,” a documentary about musician Garland Jeffreys, that shows his name as the answer to a question on the TV show “Jeopardy!”

“This moment was the film in a nutshell,” said Claire Jeffreys, the film’s producer and director, and Garland’s wife of 40 years. “Nobody knows the answer,” she continued. “So, you’re cool enough to be a Jeopardy question, but you’re still obscure enough that not one of the contestants even had a glimmer of the answer.”
