LAKEVILLE — The Masons of Montgomery Lodge No. 13 in Lakeville sold roughly 585 lobsters at their monthly sale on Saturday, July 15.
Proceeds from the May sales always go to a local nonprofit. Bill Palmer, worshipful master of the lodge, said, “We’ve been doing this for 56 years; we vote on the recipient.” This year’s vote was for the Salisbury Volunteer Ambulance Service. At the July 15 sale, Palmer said, “Earlier today we gave them a check for $2,500,” earned from the sale of more than 475 lobsters at the May event.
The lodge sells lobsters on the third Saturday of the month, from May to September.
In October, the Masons do a private sale for the eighth-grade class trips. Salisbury Central School students sell the lobsters. The Masons do the cooking.
The next sale will be on Saturday, Aug. 19.
