Marion L. Ayres

MILLERTON — Marion L. Ayres, 88, a 39-year resident of Millerton, died Jan. 4, 2013, at Geer Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in North Canaan. Born Oct. 28, 1924, in Bronxville, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Kasper J. and Anna (Sloane) Kleinschnitz. On May 15, 1949, in White Plains, N.Y., she married Philip R. Ayres. Mr. Ayres passed away in 2003. Mrs. Ayres was a secretary for Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New York in White Plains, N.Y., for more than 20 years. She was a communicant of Saint Patrick’s Church in Millerton and was a member of Saint Patrick’s Altar Rosary Society. Mrs. Ayres was also a volunteer at the Northeast-Millerton Library.Survivors include her sister, Jean Johanson of Florida; four nieces and two nephews; and a close friend and caregiver, Carol Dean of Millerton.Burial was held Jan. 9 at Kensico Cemetery in Valhalla, N.Y. Memorial contributions can be made to the Immaculate Conception Church, Saint Patrick’s Parish, 4 Lavelle Road, Amenia, NY 12501, or the Northeast-Millerton Library, PO Box 786, Millerton, NY 12546. CANAAN — Anita L. (King) Gochey, 85, of 77 South Canaan Rd. died June 5, 2026, at Geer Village. She was the wife of the late Lester Gochey. Anita was born July 16, 1940,in Winsted, daughter of the late Ivan and Irene (Dulude) King.

Anita was well known throughout the Northwest Corner. She worked for many local businesses and organizations. Anita worked at the Rexall Drug Store, C.A. Lindell and Sons, Bob’s Clothing, Brooks Pharmacy, and the Housatonic Valley Regional High School in the cafeteria.She used her skills in calligraphy to complete the record books for the North Canaan Congregational Church.Anita’s daughter remembers her as being very creative with cardboard, and a loving mom.
