Mitchell’s Darlingside at Infinity Hall with Sheik

SALISBURY — Lakeville’s own Don “Wootie” Mitchell and his band, Darlingside, return to Infinity Hall on Valentine’s Day (Thursday, Feb. 14) to open for singer/songwriter Duncan Sheik (who also wrote the music for the play “Spring Awakening.”)Darlingside opened for The Grand Slambovians at Infinity Hall in January and had such a strong response that they were invited back.“It feels great to be asked back,” Mitchell said. “Infinity is a great place to play, and we’ve been very kindly welcomed there. It’s a really unique space that many larger towns would be jealous of. The wood surfaces and facade connect you to its history, but the state-of-the-art sound system keeps everything sounding very present.”Mitchell said it’s “surreal” to be opening for Sheik.“He was all over the radio when I was first learning guitar and writing my first songs in the late 1990s,” he said. “I really respect that he’s branched out beyond the pop format and done unexpected things with his career.”As for performing on what is arguably the most romantic evening of the year, Mitchell is sure that a concert pairs well with flowers and chocolate. “I think both musical acts on the bill play passionate music with emotions close to the surface,” he said. “A date night at Infinity with dinner and a show seems like a good plan!”Tickets for the performance cost $39 and $59, and may be purchased by calling 866-666-6306 or at www.infinityhall.com.
