Richard D. Albright


NORTH CANAAN — Richard D. Albright, 82, died of natural causes on March 6, 2007, in his home at Geer Village.

His wife, the former Nancy May Sutton, whom he married in April 1951, passed away in August 2003.

Mr. Albright was born in Grove City, Pa., on June 2, 1924, to Ruth (Grissom) and Roscoe Albright.

He was a graduate of Grove City College in the class of 1950, and served in World War II as a paratrooper and staff sergeant in the U.S. Army.

A resident of Grove City for most of his life, he retired as an accountant for the Salvation Army, and was previously employed by Peter Muller-Munk Associates in Pittsburgh.

Mr. Albright was a member of the Fifth Northumberland Fusiliers, a Sherlock Holmes society. He enjoyed golfing, shooting pool, dancing, and the company of his friends and family.

He is survived by a nephew, William Albright, and his wife, Carmen; a niece, Judy Albright, and her husband, Dorance; and a great-niece, Jaine Perotti.

In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Albright was preceded in death by a brother, William Albright.

By his wishes there will be no funeral service.

He will be interred beside his wife at Kingsley Cemetery in Townville, Pa.

NEWTOWN — Housatonic Valley Regional High School's girls soccer team's state tournament run concluded in the semifinals with a 4-2 loss to Morgan High School Wednesday, Nov. 12.

The final four finish was the deepest playoff push for Housatonic since 2014. Lainey Diorio scored both goals and keeper Vi Salazar logged 10 saves in the semifinal game.

SHARON, Conn. — After 20 years as a magazine editor with executive roles at publishing giants like Condé Nast and Hearst, Meredith Rollins never imagined she would become the creative force behind a military history podcast. But today, she spends her days writing about some of the most heroic veterans in United States history for “Medal of Honor: Stories of Courage,” a podcast produced by Malcolm Gladwell’s company, Pushkin Industries.

From her early days in book publishing to two decades in magazines and later a global content strategist for Weight Watchers, Rollins has built a long and varied career in storytelling.

Salisbury honors veterans in snowy ceremony

SALISBURY — About 30 people turned out for the traditional Veterans Day ceremony at Salisbury Town Hall on a cold and snowy Tuesday morning, Nov. 11.

Chris Ohmen handled the colors and Chris Williams ran the ceremony.
