Salisbury Bank finances Irving Farm roasting facility

MILLERTON — Salisbury Bank announced its financial support in April for Irving Farm Coffee Roasters’ new roastery north of the village on Route 22.

“They’re a great company, we’ve watched them grow,” said Senior Vice President and Senior Commercial Loan Officer Geof Talcott during an interview.

“We’re a local bank, we look to help any small business that we can to expand and continue to grow in the area,” he added.

Vice President and Commercial Loan Officer David Wright was the lender.

“Salisbury Bank is excited to work with Irving Farm on such an important project,” Wright stated in a press release.

According to Green Coffee Buyer Dan Streetman, the loan was for $1 million.

Irving Farm broke ground for construction in May last year, after receiving Planning Board approval in 2012.

The building is now up and painted and Irving Farm continues final site work with an early July grand opening planned, according to Streetman.

Streetman said the company is still landscaping and acquiring a certificate of occupancy (CO).

“Our hope is that as we grow, we’ll continue to hire and have a positive impact on Millerton,” Streetman said.

The coffee buyer added that the roastery may benefit the coffee shop by catching the attention of those driving by, leading them to stop and visit the store.

“Our plan right now is to do tours and tastings on the weekends and to do training for our wholesale clients around the Hudson Valley,” Streetman said.

Streetman added that public barista classes may be a program in the future.

“It’s been a dream of ours for the past decade to move into a space that allows us to fully integrate our dedication to roasting coffee with the ability to share our years of experience with the community in a dynamic, hands-on way,” explained Irving Farm co-owner Stephen Leven in the Salisbury Bank’s statement.
