KENT — Starting Thursday, Aug. 1, with the Kent Sidewalk Sale merchants along Main Street put out tents and tables packed with goods of every variety and tempting prices.

Friday, the highly anticipated St. Andrew’s Tag Sale opened doors to an eager crowd of shoppers.

For those really determined to get a jump on their fellow shoppers, there was an “early bird” 8 a.m. ticket available for a fee, but free for all after 10 a.m.

Both events ran through Sunday, Aug 4. High temperatures were the only downside, but didn’t seem to deter the hopeful bargain hunters.

Holiday decorations bring cheer.

I just put the skeletons away — literally — into their neatly labeled Halloween plastic bins, along with the faux cobwebs, flickering lanterns and haunted houses that feature tiny tea lights. As I closed the lid, I found myself eyeing — albeit hesitantly — the Christmas décor.
