Wassaic woman arrested for felony drug possession

DOVER — Forty bags of crack cocaine were discovered in an apartment on Mill Street in Dover when the Dutchess County Drug Task Force executed a no-knock search warrant at approximately 5 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3. Narcotics packaging materials, approximately $1,000 in cash and an unknown quantity of heroin and Vicodin were also found on location and seized. The raid resulted in two arrests: Kevin Madisson, 27, of the Bronx; and Crystal McNeil, 20, of Wassaic.Webutuck High School Principal Ken Sauer said he remembers McNeil, a Webutuck graduate, as an untroubled student with a lot of potential.“I feel bad about Crystal’s situation, and I don’t know how to reach out to her,” said Sauer. “My thoughts go out to her. I hope she’s not guilty of what she’s accused of.”Sauer lamented the recent frequency of Webutuck alumni involved in drug-related incidents. On Monday, Nov. 28, another Webutuck graduate, Joshua Gop, was arrested on several charges, including possession of controlled substances and hypodermic needles.Madisson and McNeil were both charged with one count of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 3rd degree, a class B felony. Madisson’s charge was later reduced to possession of a controlled substance in the 7th degree, a misdemeanor.Madisson and McNeil were both arraigned in the Town of Dover Justice Court before Judge R. Wren Abrams. They remain in the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of the $50,000 cash bail or bond. Both were scheduled to appear in court in Dover on Monday, Dec. 12, at 6 p.m.The Dec. 3 raid was conducted after a two-month investigation into narcotics activity occurring at the residence, stated the press release. The investigation is still on-going, and additional arrests in relation to the case are pending.Senior Assistant District Attorney Frank Petramale said neither Madisson nor McNeil were the target of the search warrant, and neither of them has a prior felony history.Tyler Wyman, an agent with the Drug Task Force, said as far as is currently known, the drug operation involves the Dover area and the Bronx.Wyman said that the most common drug cases in the county deal with opiate-based prescription medications and heroine, but cocaine and crack cocaine are also dealt with regularly. He said that he believes the rate of drug-related crimes has remained fairly consistent in recent years. The Dutchess County Drug Task Force is made up of people from several law enforcement offices, including the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office and the New York State Police.Anyone with further information regarding this case should call the Drug Task Force at 845-463-6040 or contact their local municipality law enforcement.
