Webutuck athletes

WEBUTUCK — The varsity boys and girls track team competed in the Section IX Championship May 28. I would like to congratulate each and every player on a job well done. With the smallest roster of nine boys and eight girls in Class D competition, the student-athletes stepped up to represent Webutuck High School in a big way.

To my knowledge and records, the boys and girls team combined to total a school record of 25 medals. The boys team  total was 15 individual gold medals and four silver individual  medals.  The girls team held their own and brought home seven silver medals. The Warriors boys and girls teams medaled in 16 events out of 30 as a team. Also, each player who participated placed in at least one event to give the teams points.

The Webutuck community, administrators, teachers, staff, classmates and especially parents of the players should be very proud of these young student-athletes for their dedication throughout the season that led up to the success at the Section IX Championships.

 Eighth grade, Emma Frietelson (2 silver) 100m / 4x100m relay team  (Placed third in 200m)

Senior Madison Marshall (1 silver) Shot Put  (Placed third in discus)

Senior Lauren Trotter (1 silver) Long Jump*  (Placed fourth in triple jump)

Junior Katie Ruppel (1 silver) 4x100m relay team  (Placed fifth in long jump and seventh in 800m)

Junior Lena Hardy (1 silver) 4x100m relay team  (Placed fourth in 800 meter)

Freshman Brooke Dahoney (1 silver) 4x1 relay team

 Other competitors

 Senior Patrick Ivain placed fourth in shot put and discus

 Freshman Megan McCoy placed fifth in 3000m

Freshman Danielle Stoetzner placed seventh in 800m

 Freshman Coby Adrian placed seventh in long jump

 4x400m girls relay yeam placed third (Ruppel, Dahoney, Hardy, Stoetzner)

Anita L. Gochey

CANAAN — Anita L. (King) Gochey, 85, of 77 South Canaan Rd. died June 5, 2026, at Geer Village. She was the wife of the late Lester Gochey. Anita was born July 16, 1940,in Winsted, daughter of the late Ivan and Irene (Dulude) King.

Anita was well known throughout the Northwest Corner. She worked for many local businesses and organizations. Anita worked at the Rexall Drug Store, C.A. Lindell and Sons, Bob’s Clothing, Brooks Pharmacy, and the Housatonic Valley Regional High School in the cafeteria.She used her skills in calligraphy to complete the record books for the North Canaan Congregational Church.Anita’s daughter remembers her as being very creative with cardboard, and a loving mom.
