Angela Kroll Elliot

SALISBURY — Longtime Salisbury resident Angela Kroll Elliot, 92, passed away quietly at Noble Horizons on March 31, 2009.

Born in Pittsburgh, Pa., the only child of parents who were at that time touring classical musicians, her early childhood was spent in New York City and later Bronxville, N.Y.

As a youngster she went to Camp Sloane in Lakeville back in the 1920s, got to know this area and, years later, went on to reside in a series of homes, always within Salisbury township.

Affectionately known to friends as “Angie, she had a legendary career for more than 40 years with Saks Fifth Avenue as a buyer and innovator who started and grew the Young, Junior and Contemporary businesses. She trained many young professionals who went on to prominent careers in fashion sales and marketing.

While her career kept her in Manhattan all through the years, she was steadfast in her weekend and vacation visits to the Northwest Corner with her husband, Lawrence Sanford Elliot, who passed away in 1967.

She still maintained their cottage on Mt. Greenery Road for many years before moving to Lion’s Head. She briefly moved back to New York City in the late 1990s before giving up her residence there to settle in at Noble Horizons in 2003.

A private interment was held Saturday, April 4, in Bronx, N.Y. Friends and acquaintances are invited to a reception celebrating her life that will be held in the Noble Horizons Clubhouse Saturday, May 23, from 4 to 6 p.m.

The Kenny Funeral Home in Sharon has charge of arrangements.
