Artists mingle at clay exhibit

LAKEVILLE — Local artists and those connected to the arts gathered to mix and mingle at the Northwest Connecticut Arts Council’s mixer on Wednesday, May 4. The mixer was held at The Hotchkiss School’s Tremaine Gallery, where a new exhibit of South African pottery, entitled “Clay — The Art of Earth and Fire,” has recently opened.Three women collaborated on creating the exhibit: Judith Crouch (a ceramic artist and the wife of headmaster Malcolm McKenzie) and Hotchkiss art teachers Delores Coan and Terri Moore. All three attended the mixer, and answered questions about the works on display.Throughout the evening, guests clustered in small groups to discuss the work. They also sampled hors d’oeuvres that were presented in the lobby outside the gallery.Near the end of the evening, Northwest Connecticut Arts Council Executive Director Amy Wynn gave a speech thanking all of the artists and their supporters who had come to the event.
