Boys soccer looks to rebound

FALLS VILLAGE  — The 2015 Housatonic Valley Regional High School fall sports season has officially begun, with preseason practices beginning Aug. 20. This week’s look ahead is to the upcoming regular season featuring the boys soccer team.

The Housy boys completed a somewhat disappointing 2014 season, finishing the year with a losing record. However, that was still good enough to qualify for the Class S CIAC tournament, with the Mountaineers falling to eventual co-champion East Hampton in the first round.

The 2015 team will be quite different, as the team graduated eight players last May. However, with a very large senior class to provide leadership, the Mountaineers will look to rebound with contributions from some of the younger players.

In a post-season interview last fall, Head Coach Jeff Trip indicated the 2015 team will rely on some of those younger players, and he’s confident they can succeed.

“We have a lot of young players. I’m looking forward to it,” said Tripp.
