Fatal automobile crash on Route 7 in Cornwall

A fatal crash occurred on the Kent Road in Cornwall on Sunday, March 18, at about 6:30 a.m.

Christopher Meach, 66, of Falls Village was traveling north on Route 7 north of Hickory Lane in Cornwall in a 2012 Suzuki four-wheel drive vehicle.

Traveling south at the same time on Route 7 was a 2011 Mazda 3S driven by Meghan Butler, 27, of Stamford, Conn. The two cars collided head on. Butler was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Meach sustained serious injuries and was transported to Hartford Hospital by LifeStar helicopter. 

The cause of the collision remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the State Police at Troop B at 860-626-1820.
