Glorious foliage and perfect weather for the Harvest Fair

KENT — The First Congregational Church of Kent celebrated the advent of fall foliage and the end of summer with a Harvest Fair on Saturday, Oct. 15.

There were activities inside and out, with vendors selling everything from homegrown maple syrup and garlic to jewelry, ceramics and cosmetics. There was even an Andersen Windows product representative there, raffling off a chance to win $15,000 worth of windows.

The cool weather (and the outdoor bounce house) helped visitors to the fair work up an appetite. Happily, there was plenty of autumn-themed food inside, from hot dogs and chili to squash soup and apple crisp.

Later in the day there was a turkey dinner in the parish house, followed by an old-fashioned square dance, the first the church has hosted in many years. This year marks the church’s 275th anniversary.
