Barkhamsted, CT

Saturday, Dec. 9,
8 a.m.-3 p.m.

The Barkhamsted Women’s Club will host a Breakfast with Santa from 8 to 10:30 a.m. at Barkhamsted Elementary School, 65 Ripley Hill Road. Ticket prices are $6 for adults and $3 for children ages 3 to 12. Children two and under are free.

Holiday Craft Fair and Winter Wonderland at the school from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Copake, NY

The Copake Community Service, Inc., is selling wreaths to fund a poinsettia project for local shut-ins. $20 for each wreath. To order a wreath, stop in at the Town Clerk’s office or call Lorraine Strohmier at 518-329-2892, or Rus Davis at 518-329-6789.

Cornwall, CT

Saturday, Dec. 9, 7:30 p.m.

The annual Cornwall Christmas Pageant will be held at the UCC Village Meeting House on Bolton Hill Road. Everyone is asked to bring a toy wrapped in white paper to donate to children in need. Refreshments will be served following the pageant in the parish house. Falls Village Children’s Theater’s “Happy Holidays!”, directed by Michael Berkeley and performed by Region One students. Hour-long performances celebrate youth, joy and the spirit of the season. Friday, Dec. 1 at 7 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 2 at 7 p.m.; Sunday, Dec. 3 at 2 p.m. at the Center on Main, 103 Main St.

Dec. 2 to 23

Holiday trees and wreaths and roping (as well as Cabot cheese and poinsettias) will once again be sold by students in the FFA program at Housatonic Valley Regional High School, from Dec. 2 to 23. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day.

Anyone interested in learning how to make wreaths and roping is invited to the production nights in the agricultural education department.

Dec. 2 events are from noon until 5 p.m. and will feature Torrington Area Railroaders, glassblowing at Greenwood Glass Studio, children’s craft workshop at the Riverton Grange, puppet show, ice carving, horse drawn wagon rides and more.

The Noble Horizons Festival of Trees is currently open and concludes with a gala party on Saturday, Dec. 2, from 5 to 7 p.m. Tickets are $35. Reservations 860-435-9851, walk-ins welcome. 

The trees, wreaths and centerpieces on display are offered for purchase in a silent auction that runs throughout the event. All proceeds are used for special purchases and extra activities for the residents of Noble Horizons. 

The Loving Tree will hold transportation-inspired ornaments that can be purchased to provide special services, such as haircuts and manicures, for Noble Horizons residents.

The festival is open Saturday through Wednesday from noon to 4 p.m., and Thursday and Friday from noon to 6 p.m. Admission is free. Noble Horizons, 17 Cobble Rd. 

Saturday, Dec. 2, 8-11 a.m.

Salisbury Winter Sports Association will host its annual SWSA Ski Swap and Sale at the Lakeville Hose Company. Residents can bring equipment to be sold Friday, Dec. 2, from 4 to 7 p.m. No equipment will be accepted on Saturday. 

On Saturday, from 11 a.m. to noon, residents can pick up their money or unsold equipment. Any remaining equipment after noon will become the property of SWSA.

Saturday, Dec. 2, 7 p.m.

The annual Salisbury Association Victorian Christmas Concert will be held at the Academy Building. It will feature Judith Dansker on oboe and recorder, Marcia Young, soprano and Renaissance harp, Christopher Morrongiello on lute and Alicia DePaolo, vocalist. Tickets are $30 and include dessert and drinks.

The Sharon Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary will sponsor a fundraiser for the holiday seasons. Beginning Nov. 28,  individuals can make donations in memory of or in honor of a loved one by donating $5 per individual name to the Auxiliary.  The donor will have the choice of the ornament to be used:  tree, star, present, wreath, regular ornament or the Star of David.    It is up to the donor if they wish to have their name also placed on the ornament.

The Memory Tree will be displayed in the Town Hall lobby from Nov. 28 to Dec. 31.

Saturday, Dec. 2, 9-2 p.m.

St. Anthony School will hold its annual Christmas Bazaar at the St. Joseph Church Franciscan Center on Oak Street. Vendor space is available at a cost of $40 for a six-foot table. For vendors who provide their own six-foot or smaller table, the cost is $35. There will be lunch available, grab bags, visits with Santa, a raffle and silent auction, children’s activities, wreaths and gift cards. The funds raised from this event directly benefit every student at St. Anthony School by providing field trips, additional educational programs and field day.
