Madeline (Leblond) Casavant

BRIMFIELD, Mass. — Madeline (Leblond) Casavant, 96, widow of Lucien V. Casavant, died June 8, 2014. She was born Nov. 25, 1917, daughter of the late Emma (Brodeur) and Edmond Leblond of Winsted, formerly of Canada. She attended school at The Academy in Plainfield. Madeline resided in Brimfield, Mass., from the 1950s to the 1980s. During her years in Brimfield, the family owned a dairy farm. In 1986, Madeline’s husband, Lucien Victor Casavant, died. She spent the next 26 years living in Winsted. In 2011, she returned to Brimfield, where she enjoyed being closer to her family and many old friends. She always enjoyed reading, baking, sewing, was an accomplished artist in oil painting, and loved traveling the country in the family RV. She was a communicant of St. Christopher’s Church. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends and beloved children, Roger of Rockland, Mass., Theresa of Tucson, Ariz., Rene of Warren, Mass., Urban of Milo, Maine, Julien (Diane) of Corinth, Maine, Dennis (Cindy) of Troutville, Va., Flora Kryzak (Dennis) of Northampton, Mass., Mary Hull (Peter) of Monson, Mass., Dianne of Killington, Vt., Paul (Patricia) of Easthampton, Mass., Mary Jane Raymond (Ronald) North Haledon, N.J., and Michael (Laura) of Simpsonville, S.C.; along with 30 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. Madeline is survived by her sisters, Mary Jane Leblond, Irene Leblond and Rita Pasquarello of Winsted, Conn. and Beatrice Rodrigue of Calif. Along with her husband, she was predeceased by her daughter, Lilyanne Kutt; and her siblings Elianne, Leonce and Roger Leblond. Visitation was held Wednesday, June 11, at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home. Funeral services were held June 12 at the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Christopher’s Church.
