A party for the Covered Bridge

CORNWALL — The Covered Bridge Morning Social on Saturday, Sept. 29, was hosted by the Cornwall Foundation and Pearly’s Farmhouse Cafe. Coffee and abundant tasty pastries awaited visitors and foundation supporters.

Foundation President Andrea Geisser and Treasurer Louise Riley acquainted guests with the admirable contribution that the organization has made since its beginnings in 2003.

“Its purpose is to support the programs of local charities and institutions that enhance life in Cornwall,” she said.

The Covered Bridge is certainly the town’s most significant landmark, and its reopening after a month of renovation on the floor was eagerly awaited by locals and visitors alike. Geisser said town businesses had definitely felt the effect of the closing and that the foundation put on the celebration as “a nice way to bring back business after the closure.”

It was a picture-perfect September morning, and everyone took the time to enjoy a walk on the bridge and to marvel at the renovation — particularly the new, quiet flooring. Cars, bicyclers and pedestrians came and went happily and peacefully, happy to have their bridge open once again.
