TOWN OF AMENIA PLANNING BOARD

APPLICATION FOR SITE PLAN 

APPROVAL FOR THE AMENIA FREE LIBRARY

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that, pursuant to Chapter 121 of the Town of Amenia Code, and Sections 274-a of the New York State Town Law, a public hearing will be held by the Planning Board of the Town of Amenia, New York, on September 26, 2018 at 7 pm at the Town Hall, located at 4988 Route 22, Amenia New York on the following matter:

Application by the Amenia Free Library Association to expand the existing library located at 3309 Route 343 in the Town of Amenia, NY by the addition of 1,971 square feet and related improvements including the addition of sidewalks, patios and an improved parking area. The property is located in the Hamlet Mixed-Use (HM) and Historic Preservation Overlay (HPO) and Aquifer overlay zoning districts. The proposed expansion constitutes a minor project under Section 121-60(C)(1)(b) of the Town of Amenia Zoning Code and requires site plan approval.

A copy of the application is on file in the Amenia Planning office for public viewing and inspection during normal business hours at the Town Hall address noted above. The application can also be viewed and downloaded from the Town’s official website at www.ameniany.gov or by appointment by calling (845)373-8860 X 122.

At the public hearing noticed herein, the Planning Board will hear all persons interested in the application. Persons may appear at the hearing in person or by agent, and may also submit written comments to the Planning Board prior to or at such hearing. Dated: September 14, 2018.

Recount confirms Bunce as new First Selectman

NORTH CANAAN — A recount held Monday, Nov. 10, at Town Hall confirmed Democrat Jesse Bunce’s narrow victory over incumbent First Selectman Brian Ohler (R) in one of the tightest races in town history.

“A difference of two votes,” said recount moderator Rosemary Keilty after completing the recanvass, which finalized the tally at 572 votes for Bunce and 570 for Ohler.

KENT – The cold temperatures and biting winds didn’t deter a crowd from gathering for the annual Veterans Day ceremony Tuesday morning, Nov. 11.

Standing in front of the memorials honoring local residents who served in the military, First Selectman Martin Lindenmayer, himself a veteran, said the day is “not only a time to remember history, but to recognize the people among us—neighbors, friends and family—who have served with courage, sacrifice and devotion. Whether they stood guard in distant lands or supported their comrades from home, their service has preserved the freedoms we enjoy each day.”
