Cemetery group needs your help
We, the residents of a historic cemetery in Amenia Union, the Union Cemetery Association, need your help. Our trustees have taken care of our grounds, keeping the lawns mowed and stones repaired over the past 250 years. They work hard raising funds to carry on the good work of previous trustees. But our maintenance funds are running out and our donors are disappearing.
Our record of burials include many prominent citizens from the Sharon and the Litchfield County area and the eastern Dutchess County area, including Wassaic and Amenia. We know some of you reading this letter have friends and relatives here. Our fear is that when the trustees can no longer afford the current level of maintenance, our cemetery will start appearing forgotten.
And when our maintenance funds and giving run dry, we fear we will get turned over to the town of Amenia, whose only obligation is to mow it twice a year. Would you want this to happen? An unkempt cemetery is an eyesore to the area.

Thanks for lesson on Benghazi
I want to thank “Rantin’ and Ravin’ Larry” (Sunday in the Country radio broadcast) for his history lesson recently regarding the incident at the U.S. Embassy in Benghazi.
I totally agree with his report and assessment. The movie “13 Hours” was an excellent portrayal. Unfortunately, my husband and I had to go a distance to find a theater where it was featured, and it noticeably wasn’t in theaters for long.
The cover up of what went on there should “stick in the craw” of every American. Larry’s “rants” are always interesting and his “Troop Tributes” are much appreciated. Keep up the good work, Larry.
