New director for HCCC

SALISBURY — The Housatonic Child Care Center has a new director, Danielle Lehane, who started last week.

Lehane has a master’s degree in social work from Springfield College. She said on Monday, Aug. 24, that last year her own 2-year-old child attended HCCC, and she was impressed.

“I was thrilled with the level of care and instruction,” she said.

Lehane, a Long Island native who lives in Torrington, was working at Housatonic Valley Regional High School at the time.

When the HCCC job came, “I thought I’d throw my hat in the ring.”

HCCC renewed its accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children in March.

Lehane said the process is “laborious,” with applicants addressing more than 400 distinct objectives in curriculum and child development.

But it’s more than worth it.

“You’re considered more of an elite facility if you have it,” she said.
